D-hole

For a D-hole, which can be either single, double or quadruple, first select Insert > D-hole and place the object. In the subsequent dialog box "D-hole properties", you can then determine all the desired properties.

What is a "D-hole"?

The D-hole is achieved by indenting arc segments in the drilled hole . Therefore the D-hole is flattened on a corresponding number of sides. The single D-hole with one flattened side is required, for example, as a mounting hole for corresponding BNC sockets (see picture below).

The double D-hole has two opposing flat sides, while the quadruple D-hole has four flat sides at right angles to each other.

Properties of the single D-hole

For a single D-hole, please select the appropriate option in the "Shape" field. The following options are now available:

Variable

Description

Diameter

Diameter of the single D-hole

Width

Width of the single D-hole = diameter minus the height of the recessed circular segment

Angle of rotation

Rotation angle of the single D-hole around its reference point

Tool

Tool with which the inner contour of the single D-hole (possibly to finalize) is created, whereby the smallest possible radius of the contour can be set if necessary

Edge machining >>>

The option of producing one or both edges of the D-hole with either a bevel or a rounding (details).

Do not produce object

If you do not want to produce a single D-hole, but to place it on the front panel for information purposes only - for example as a marker -  then check this box.

Properties of the double D-hole

For a double D-hole, please select the appropriate option in the "Shape" field. The following options are now available:

Variable

Description

Diameter

Diameter of the double D-hole

Width

Width of the double D-hole = diameter minus 2 x the height of the recessed circular segments

Angle of rotation

Rotation angle of the double D-hole around its reference point

Tool

Tool with which the inner contour of the double D-hole (possibly to finalize) is created, whereby the smallest possible radius of the contour can be set if necessary

Edge machining >>>

The option of producing one or both edges of the double D-hole with either a bevel or a rounding (details).

Do not produce object

If you do not want to produce a double D-hole, but to place it on the front panel for information purposes only - for example as a marker -  then check this box.

Properties of the quadruple D-hole

For a quadruple D-hole, please select the appropriate option in the "Shape" field. The following options are now available:

Variable

Description

Diameter

Diameter of the quadruple D-hole

Width

Width of the quadruple D-hole = diameter minus 2 x the height of both the left and right recessed circular segments

Height

Height of the quadruple D-hole = diameter minus 2 x the height of both the upper and lower recessed circular segments

Angle of rotation

Rotation angle of the quadruple D-hole around its reference point

Tool

Tool with which the inner contour of the quadruple D-hole (possibly to finalize) is created, whereby the smallest possible radius of the contour can be set if necessary

Edge machining >>>

The option of producing one or both edges of the quadruple D-hole with either a bevel or a rounding (details).

Do not produce object

If you do not want to produce a quadruple D-hole, but to place it on the front panel for information purposes only - for example as a marker -  then check this box.
