This chapter distinguishes between graphic elements according to their appearance and function and provides cross-references between design features and their resulting accompanying constraints for production engineering.

Text & symbols	Standard technology and options for the labeling of front panels
Logos & icons	Both engraving and printing technology are available to reproduce logos and icons etc.
Pixel art & photos	Pixel graphics (bitmaps) can be reproduced on front panels with digital printing technology

The table refers to the spectrum of common graphic elements – from labeling to icons to photos – on elements from "Front Panel Designer" or to digital printing.

P	Program option = elements that can be directly positioned and their properties adjusted in the relevant dialog box.
V	Vector graphic = digital file that describes an array of graphic primitives such as lines, circles, polygons, or general curves ("splines"), to each of which a tool as well as other properties (e.g. color) can be assigned.
R	Raster graphic = digital file that describes a grid-like arrangement of pixels or picture elements each with an assigned color, to which a color depth and an output variable can be assigned.
